Evyon has been selected as a winner in PRIO’s Jump Start open innovation program. The prize for winning is a pilot project where Evyon and PRIO will collaborate on integrating one of Evyon’s battery systems with an EV fast charger without the need for a costly and time-consuming grid upgrade.

PRIO owns the largest private network of EV charging stations in Portugal, operates over 250 service stations and welcomes more than 2 million monthly customers. The company is working on enabling the green transition by offering EV charging at its service stations in Portugal. Integrating Evyon’s battery solutions will enable a faster, more affordable, and flexible development of PRIO’s offering.

Jump Start is PRIO’s international annual Open Innovation Program which seeks to accelerate smart solutions for developing a sustainable future. The program supports startups to boost innovation and sustainability within the e-mobility sector. This year’s Jump Start has awarded the winners with a baseline prize of 10 thousand euros for the development of a pilot project in cooperation with PRIO.

Evyon was selected to participate in PRIO’s bootcamp out of more than 90 applicants. In the finals, on September 23th, Evyon competed with 6 other startups for the win and the opportunity to collaborate with PRIO on a pilot project.

Ralph Groen, Evyon’s CCO and pitcher at the finals, comments: “It was a lot of fun to work with the PRIO team of mentors to co-develop a solution that really helps them forward on their sustainability journey. And then the competition was strong, with a lot of startups with great ideas and concepts, so we feel proud to have been selected as a winner, and get a chance to deploy our sustainable battery system with PRIO. For Evyon, this presents a huge milestone, with our first international project, in a market that we see a lot of potential in.”

Evyon's planet-friendly battery system based on repurposed EV batteries allows PRIO to deploy EV fast charging without upgrading the grid and consume more of the solar PV generated at its service stations. Furthermore, the system to be developed in cooperation with PRIO will unlock the opportunity to roll out sustainable, battery powered EV charging and solar PV consumption at 250+ service stations across Portugal and Spain.
