As the need for reliable electrical energy continues to grow across the globe, the need for polluting petrol and diesel generators also keeps rising. This obviously comes with the associated additional greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, diesel engines contribute to the production of ground-level ozone, which damages crops, trees and other vegetation. Moreover, it affects air and water quality, which can also be detrimental to human health.

Mitigating the problems caused by the diesel generators is the main goal of the collaborative project between Evyon and K8. The two parties will jointly develop a sustainable mobile energy solution based on second-life EV batteries, which can serve as a replacement for such generators.

DOGA’s design-driven innovation program (DIP) has awarded 0.5 MNOK to fund the project. The partnership will allow the parties to assess market opportunities, design strategy, vision and business model, which could lead to innovative products that will benefit both people and the planet.

Jørgen Erdal, Evyon’s Co-founder & CEO is excited about kicking off the project with an experienced partner: “We are very grateful for the support from DOGA. The world is in dire need of carbon-free solutions, and with this support, we are able to accelerate our plans together with an experienced design partner that is K8 Industridesign.”

Marius Andresen, CEO of K8 Industridesign adds “The K8 team is always super excited to start a DIP project as the program allows for a different and deeper kind of exploration in the early stages of a project, and add this working with Evyon, the hottest start-up in Norway, finding solutions for mobile energy storing gaining a world in need, it does not get much better!

The project is scheduled to kick off during 2023 Q1. The outcome of the study could result in developing a product that can be used to power e.g., concerts and festivals, as well as temporary charging applications, as well as mobile power needs for roadworks etc.
