Powering Colorful Operations with Green Energy Storage

Published on

In times when environmental consciousness is gaining importance and energy prices are going up, industrial companies are increasingly seeking innovative solutions to reduce their carbon footprint, embrace sustainability, and optimize their energy bill. C. Christoffersen, a forward-leaning industrial family business selling products and services that protect and add color to your values, has emerged as a leading example of this trend with its recent installation of a sustainable battery system from Evyon and TGN Energy.

Evyon provided C. Christoffersen with an 800 kWh battery system, providing 550 kW of power through six AC-integrated battery strings using inverters from KACO new energy. What sets this battery system apart is its foundation in sustainability. By utilizing repurposed EV batteries, Evyon has effectively given a second life to batteries that would otherwise contribute to electronic waste. This approach not only minimizes environmental impact but also showcases the potential for circular economy practices within the energy sector. The commissioning of this system marks a significant step forward in C. Christoffersen's journey towards optimizing energy usage and reducing reliance on non-renewable sources. The project was made possible through support from Enova.

Kikkan Christoffersen, CEO of C. Christoffersen is very pleased that the system is now in operation: “Installing a battery system with repurposed batteries was an important decision for us, and we are proud to choose a sustainable solution offered by TGN and Evyon. We are dedicated to achieving our sustainability targets, and connected to our solar system we look forward to further lowering our energy costs while supporting the local grid infrastructure.”

The integration and operational optimization of this planet-friendly battery system are taken care of by TGN Energy, a leading Norwegian developer of commercial and industrial energy solutions. TGN Energy's expertise in this field ensures seamless functionality and maximum value creation from the overall energy system through TGN’s proprietary energy management system, TGN FlexControl, and grid integration through TGN Aggregate.

Tommy Bønsnæs, CEO of TGN Energy comments: “We are super enthusiastic about this project together with Evyon and C. Christoffersen. Evyon’s approach to sustainable battery systems is unique and inspiring, and together with our market-leading energy management system we hope to help many companies improve their environmental footprint while reducing their electricity bill.”

By collaborating with Evyon and TGN Energy, C. Christoffersen achieves these benefits with a minimal carbon footprint due to the use of repurposed batteries. C. Christoffersen’s commitment to sustainability thereby extends beyond mere compliance and serves as inspiration for other businesses that are looking to increase their operational efficiency in a sustainable manner, while minimizing cost.

Jørgen Erdal - Co-founder & CEO of Evyon - is proud to have delivered yet another sustainable energy storage system: “This is yet another win-win for the customer and planet: A sustainable battery system from Evyon with maximum value-generation thanks to TGN Energy’s energy management system. Our collaboration with TGN Energy goes back to 2021, and we are proud to further strengthen this together with a forward-leaning customer like C. Christoffersen.”

In addition, the system is connected to Evyon’s proprietary Battery Cloud which monitors the health and safety of the battery cells. Through the use of cutting-edge battery models, cloud computing, and network effects from a quickly growing portfolio of deployed systems, Evyon can maximize the safety, performance, and longevity of C. Christoffersen’s battery system.
